Redbird ID Card

Your Illinois State University Redbird ID card functions as your meal card and is encoded with the following:

Your meal plan, which provides you access to the dining centers
Your Flex Dollar account
A university debit account (if you choose to deposit money into this account)

The Flex Dollar and University Debit Accounts are debit (declining balance) accounts that work like a checking account . . . you start with a balance and each time you make a purchase, the cashier swipes your ID and the amount of your purchase is subtracted from the balance. The accounts differ in where they can be used and the amount available.

The University can encode the following on your Redbird Card in these circumstances:	If you have purchased a meal plan, it will be encoded onto your Redbird ID card and will provide you access to the dining centers.	If you have purchased a meal plan, Flex Dollars will be encoded on your Redbird ID Card in a declining balance account.	If you have opened an account at the Redbird Card Office in the Bone Student Center, you can add money to your University Debit Account. Money may be added via the iCampus portal, 3-D machines around campus, the Redbird Card Office, or at Student Accounts. Learn more about adding money to your card.
Where can I use my Redbird ID card?	Residence hall dining centers – your Redbird ID card provides you access to the dining centers when you have purchased a meal plan.	You may use your Flex Dollar account at the following locations: Subway shops and residence hall vending machines Bone Student Center restaurants Dining Centers, but only after you have used all available meals	For a comprehensive list of locations where you can use your Redbird Debit Dollars, visit the Redbird Card Office Web site. How much is in my account?	Your meal plan is encoded on your ID card. The number of times you may access the dining centers depends on the meal plan that you have purchased.	Flex Dollars vary depending on the meal plan you have purchased: 7 Day Unlimited: $150 5 Day Unlimited: $225 19 Meals Traditional: $300 14 Meals Traditional: $350 7 Meals Traditional: $125 300 Block: $175 225 Block: $225 100 Block: $125 75 Block: $125 50 Block: $125 25 Block: $125	This depends on how much money you have deposited in your account.
